Choose which products and orders need a check
A mixed catalog needs a focused approach. Review which hemp products you may sell, where you may sell them, and which orders require age verification.

Use supported product, category, and regional rules to target the orders that require age verification.
Leave other orders flowing
Permitted orders outside your configured age rules skip that check. Product and shipping restrictions need their own controls.

These methods are not interchangeable under every law. An online check does not replace any required in-person ID or delivery check.
Use the right starting point
Discuss which customer details and verification methods fit your store. A record lookup alone may not meet a photo ID requirement.

Plan around the markets you serve
Hemp rules go beyond age. Product definitions, permitted sales channels, and delivery requirements vary. Review federal, state, and local requirements before accepting an order.

MinnesotaLower-potency hemp edibles
Check age at sale and delivery
Licensed lower-potency hemp edible retailers must verify that a customer is at least 21 before initiating a sale or completing a delivery. The law specifies accepted proof of age; do not assume a checkout record lookup replaces it.

FloridaIngested or inhaled hemp extract
Review the covered product definition
Products intended for ingestion or inhalation that contain hemp extract may not be sold to anyone under 21. The statute also sets testing, packaging, and labeling requirements. This does not mean every hemp-derived item falls within the same scope.

TennesseeSales-channel restrictions
An age check cannot open a restricted market
Tennessee’s regulator says TABC hemp retail license holders must sell in person at licensed retail establishments and may not deliver or ship hemp-derived cannabinoid products to consumers. An online age check does not authorize those shipments.

Federal product rules are changing too
Federal hemp-definition amendments and a later extension affect product eligibility and timing. They are separate from age verification. Review the current text with counsel before setting catalog or shipping rules.

Review each market
Review cannabinoid content, product type, licensing, destination, and sales channel with counsel. Hemp, CBD, and licensed cannabis are not interchangeable categories.
Confirm the full implementation
Age verification does not establish product legality or replace separate shipping, delivery, packaging, or licensing requirements.

Questions about hemp age verification
Does every hemp or CBD product need a 21+ check?
No single age rule applies to every product and market. Definitions, cannabinoid content, intended use, and sales location matter. The 21+ illustration is an example, not a nationwide rule for all hemp items.
Can we verify only the products that need it?
Use supported product, category, and regional rules to focus age checks on applicable orders. Confirm the settings available for your platform. Separate product or shipping restrictions still need to be enforced.
Is a website age gate enough?
A customer clicking “I am 21” is a declaration. Confirm the proof of age your applicable rules require, and whether checks must occur at sale, pickup, or delivery. Discuss the supported BlueCheck methods with your implementation team and counsel.
Does verification mean we can sell or ship the product?
No. A successful age check does not authorize a product, destination, or sales channel. Review federal, state, and local restrictions, licensing, and delivery requirements separately.
What should we share with BlueCheck?
